Sweetwater Creek - ChrisDahl

October 19, 2014

I grew up in Cobb County Georgia and we would go to Sweetwater Creek Park all the time as kids, It has been many years since I walked down to the old mill. A few weeks ago I had planned to drive back up to Gatlinburg TN to shoot on the Roaring Fork Motor Trail, but having had a long hard week in the office I decided to stay close to home and visit Sweetwater Creek State Park again.

On October 19, 2014 I got up before the sun and made the trip across the county to Sweetwater Creek. I was a very nice morning with some scattered clouds. I was happy to see there were no gates and a self pay box for us early risers. The photo above is the old mill, today it is surrounded by a fence and no one is allowed in unescorted. But there are some nice vantage points where you can get some detail of the brick walls and the surrounding area.

The equipment use included my D800, 24-85 3.5-4.5 lens and usually a ND8 filter. I like to show motion in the water, and to do this you need longer exposures. All of my work is post processed in Lightroom, and if I need a little more retouching I move to Photoshop.
