Sigma 150-600 Test - ChrisDahl

March 1, 2015

I ordered a Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sport Lens in September of 2014 and I got it about two weeks ago (Mid February 2015) .

I will not be submitting a highly technical review. However I am happy to pass on my opinions. I have not had a chance to take it further than my back yard for testing. But so far I am very happy with the results.  Previous to this lens I had a Nikon 80-400 zoom (one of the older ones) that did a good job, but did not focus very fast and was a bit short for a full frame Nikon camera when shooting small animals and aircraft.

The Sigma more than makes up for this, the focus is fast and silent. The focus limiting works great, just remember to change the settings when you change subject distance.

It is a very heavy lens, and I do not suspect I will walk around hand holding it very often (if at all).

I already see that I need to add a Gimbal head to my collection of parts.

As I have seen in many reviews there is some fall off around the edges which I have easily corrected. In many cases I darken edges anyway.

The Bokeh is nice, I use it often and look forward to using it with this lens.

The lens came well packaged, and included a soft case, a soft lens cap, lens hood and a strap.

It looks like a keeper to me. I am sure I will post more images in the near future.
